Tag Galaxy

http://taggalaxy.de/
I read about this site on USAT's Pop Candy blog:
"Here's how the site works: It takes all photos in Flickr and maps them into planets. Type in a random tag -- I typed "Warhol," for example -- and you'll see a "galaxy" representing every photo for that tag. It then sorts the tags into planets/subcategories and allows you to enlarge the photos, read captions and head to the person's Flickr page."

  1. There have been a lot of really neat toys like this over the years... this is definitely one of the better ones. Really neat eye-candy, and worth a look.

  2. Whenever I see interesting representations of photos like this (and Piclens) I think about when it'll be standard to bring it up on your HD tv and control the display in a similar fashion as in the "Tracking Your Fingers with the Wiimote" video at
    http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/

All the technology exists today. Just need someone to bundle it together elegantly.
